On Tuesday, 24 September 2024, the first webinar will take place as part of the demystification seminars on the correlation between GDPR and artificial intelligence, entitled Personal Data Protection and Artificial Intelligence. The seminar will address the importance of personal data protection in today’s digital age, where the use of artificial intelligence is becoming more and more widespread. In the introductory part, we will present the Slovenian Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP-2) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the main details and differences between them. After discussing the rights of individuals with regard to the protection of personal data, the obligations of data controllers and data processors, and the principles of personal data processing, we will focus on how AI uses personal data and give examples of its use in different areas. We will continue by presenting the challenges and risks related to the processing of personal data in AI systems and thus potential breaches of the ZVOP-2 and the GDPR. Implementing artificial intelligence in healthcare

On Thursday 19 September 2024, a webinar on Implementing Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare will take place from 10 am to 2 pm. Artificial intelligence is bringing major changes to healthcare and opening the door to many innovations. This seminar will give participants an insight into current trends and concrete examples of how AI can improve healthcare services, while highlighting the limitations and concerns of its use. Particular emphasis will be placed on practical use cases, including automated text generation, advanced image analysis and generation, and the implementation of AI in the education of healthcare professionals and patients. It will also show how AI is optimising key processes in healthcare, and how conversational robots and other advanced technologies are improving patient interaction and the efficiency of care. No specific background in computer science or artificial intelligence is required, as the seminar is designed in a way that allows the widest possible participation. Demiystifying user (in)security online

On Thursday, January 18, 2024, a demystifying seminar on the topic of online user security will be held online from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. As we spend more and more time online, we often encounter various security threats. In addition to online security, we also put our privacy at risk, something we often don’t think about. In this year’s first demystification seminar, we will therefore focus on concepts and technologies that threaten and protect users online and for which it is important that users recognize them, use them or, understand their benefits. During the seminar, we will discuss various aspects of cyber security. For users to be able to recognize various cyber-attacks, we will devote part of the seminar to these very topics. These will include identity theft, various forms of scams (e.g. phishing), harmful software (e.g. ransomware) and the like. Technologies that can help ensure privacy (eg TOR or VPN) will also be presented. We will look at why passwords are vulnerable and what the conditions are for a password to be secure. Demystifying blockchain technology in business

Demystifying Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, a demytifing seminar on Artificial intelligence in public addministration will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The development of information technologies has led to an era in which we create, share and exchange increasing amounts of data. As the range of available data exceeds the capabilities of conventional, established computer systems to analyse them effectively, artificial intelligence and machine learning has become key to coping with this task. This, in turn, brings new challenges and requirements, such as accuracy and reliability, complexity of data acquisition, transparency of predictive models, credibility of validation, protection of privacy and ethical issues. Starting from two decades of practical experience in the use of artificial intelligence in various fields, the seminar will present what artificial intelligence is, and demonstrate through various examples some possibilities for its effective use. In doing so, we will point out some pitfalls that are too quickly caught by underexperienced developers who, under the influence of often excessive expectations and unrealistic demands of the environment, see artificial intelligence methods as a new “magical” technology. Streaming optimised scientific software: an introduction to EESSI

MultiXscale, in collaboration with CASTIEL 2 WP3 presents an event aimed at the Center of Excellence, the National Competence Center, their network and the end user. The event will take place online on December 5, 2023, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m CET. Have you ever wished that all the scientific software you use was available on all the resources you had access to without having to go through the pain of getting them installed the way you want/need? The European Environment for Scientific Software Installations (EESSI – pronounced “easy”) is a common stack of architecture-optimised scientific software installations for HPC systems and beyond, including laptops, personal workstations, and cloud infrastructure. At the training you will learn what EESSI is, how it is designed, how to gain access to it and how to use it. Online tutorial: “Best Practices for CernVM-FS in HPC”

On Monday, 4 December 2023 (13:30-17:00 CET) online introductory tutorial on CernVM-FS will be held via Zoom. Tutorial was developed in collaboration with with the CernVM-FS development team. CernVM-FS, the CernVM File System (also known as CVMFS), is a file distribution service that is particularly well suited to distribute software installations across a large number of systems world-wide in an efficient way. The focus of this tutorial is on explaining what CernVM-FS is, how to access existing CernVM-FS repositories (like EESSI), and covering some aspects specific to using CernVM-FS on HPC systems. It is intended for people with a background in HPC (system administrators, support team members, end users, etc.) who are new to CernVM-FS: no specific prior knowledge or experience with it is required. Demystifying Cyber Security technologies

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, a demytifing seminar on cyber security technologies will be held from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The development of information technologies and the Internet means an ever-increasing amount of data and digital services, which brings the challenges of cyber security. Ensuring cyber security includes both technical and non-technical aspects. As part of the seminar, we will focus on the concepts and technologies of cyber security, which are often misunderstood or not known at all. Various aspects of cyber security will be presented as part of the seminar. The basics of cryptography will be presented, with which we want to dispel the mystery surrounding the technologies that are the basis of many security mechanisms. The use of cryptography is also related to digital certificates and public key infrastructure. We will explain concepts such as electronic signature, digital certificate, SIGEN-CA, eOsebna, etc. and possibilities of use in practice.
